In 2017, Missouri's Republican-controlled House voted in favor of vote to work laws 100-59. The Missouri Senate voted for right to work laws 21-12.

On Tuesday, 67.5% of Missouri voters rejected the law.

It wasn't just defeated, it was eviscerated.

5. It's not like Missouri is a bastion of liberalism. The Republicans are just that out of step with what people actually want.

It suggests a path forward for the Democratic Party and real change.

The actual story that @malito_ali is skirting right up against the edge of here is: millennials will never retire. "Retirement" as a phase of life and not a disastrous outcome of becoming unemployable is over.

She's got all the puzzle pieces but isn't putting them together.
The whole notion of retirement in one's 60s and riding off into the sunset years in a life of relative security and leisure requires a strong labor movement and a strong social contract.

It's the lifetime equivalent of an 8 hour work day, or 5 day work week.
The profit motive of capitalism would keep us all working on whatever side of the line of actually being worked to death is the most efficient money-maker at the moment, absent other equally powerful motives pushing back against it.
