Neighbor brought home an Entenmann's raspberry coffee cake, which has same ingredients as a poptart but we love b/c nostalgia.

Growing up not-wealthy in Idaho, visited fancy Ohio grandparents in summer; this was fancy bfast. Still ❤️ it.

What's your not-luxury food nostalgia?
Ok who else is currently in the way to the shop to buy a bunch of junk food?

PS Amtrak gets major credit from me for having Entenmann's chocolate chip cookies on the train.
Adding: when we first arrived in Boise we were living in some dive motel for a few hot weeks. But we were little so it was super exciting. The vending machine only had Squirt. So dad bought us Squirt everyday.
To this day, any grapefruit soda makes me nostalgic for those days.

I spent 55 hrs rewatching Battlestar Galactica this wk, & had deeper thoughts on AI/nature of consciousness/why we think of the divine, resistance techniques/guerrilla warfare, civil-military relations, representative govt/social stratification -- than I get from year of TV news
The spinoff needed (cc @RonDMoore) is how the idea of God evolved in the centurions, & what happened to them. The whole series should be without speech, as the centurions are.
Would be a good way to upend ideas re science, faith, human, machine, & battle over development of AI.

I started watching the last ep without tissues and with cats on me, and that was a big mistake.

I'm rewatching Battlestar Galactica because man vs machine vs the unexplainable is pretty much the philosophy we need right now.
The exchange at the beginning between the military and civilian leaders re: the inherent evil vs benefit of networked computers/AI = 2018

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN: Poised to work Saturday night arraignments, 5PM to 1AM, representing poor New Yorkers arrested in the last 24 hours. I’m the felony conflicts attorney and have the pleasure of working with my @BklynDefender colleagues.
I say “arrested in the last 24 hours” and people have a legal right to be brought before a judge within 24 hours of arrest, but many people wait much longer.
The reason there are excessive delays tonight is b/c there's an issue w/ fingerprinting in central booking. When I arrive the courtroom is empty, but for some @CourtWatchNYC volunteers. I say hi & tell them about the problem, b/c I don't want them to be waiting for nothing.

2/ It is 2008, & I live in Edinburgh. I work at a Blackwell's Bookshop, on the 2nd floor. My job is to order academic texts for the store. I am okay at it, not great. One afternoon, I'm working at the counter beside this lovely young chap named Greg. We are bantering, as we do.
