1/ Today we're launching Reveal Local Labs, our initiative to support local investigative reporting and community engagement.

2/ There’s one problem facing journalism today that looms larger than practically anything else: the decimation of local news.

3/ We wanted to help. But we’re a national news organization. We don’t have the local knowledge or resources to jump into communities across the country and do sustained, meaningful investigative reporting.

4/ We realized, however, that we had some skills we could contribute: collaboration, engagement and training.

We spend a lot of time working on all those things.

5/ So, over the next two years, we will be facilitating reporting collaborations in four cities across the country.

6/ We have three goals for Reveal Local Labs:

6/ Today, we're announcing our first city: San Jose.
