Today week 3 of Lambda Next (our post-grad program) starts.

Everyone has to build something in a language and/or framework they’ve never touched before (so no JavaScript/React, Python/Django or C). A few trying out Rails, some on Java/Spring, a little Go.

Should be fun.
Week two of Lambda Next was getting more used to orienting yourself to code you didn’t write. Pulling down projects from Github, figuring out how/why they did what they did, debugging, submitting pull requests
All the while students are networking, blogging, attending meetups, applying

A lot of talk about Lambda School today, and most of it I'll ignore.

One I'm going to respond to - that Lambda School is "creaming" - removing the best students from other schools and locking them into ISAs.

This is a tweetstorm full of student stories, so buckle up.
J is a single father, high school dropout with two kids (1.6 GPA), had been working in a warehouse for four years. We noticed in our intro courses he was doing well at programming, and decided to invest.

He attended Lambda, now makes software for warehouses, making $80k+/yr
S had to drop out of school when she couldn't afford the payments on her archaeology degree. She was living in a car when she applied to Lambda School.

She was also hired at an $80k rate.

There are more than 10x the students starting Lambda School today as 18 months ago.

NPS is higher across the board, student skill is higher across the board, and it goes off without a hitch.

Hats off to the Lambda growth, admissions and student success teams.
NPS schoolwide for Lambda School is in the high 60s. We're working on getting it to the mid/high 70s right now.

When I sent this tweet, a team of doctors had just come into a dark waiting room where my wife and I were sitting with both sets of parents, our pastor, and another friend, and told us that our two-week old daughter, Myles, was dying in the next room.
Earlier in the evening, Myles was with my wife at a Christmas ornament decorating party when she started to seem lethargic. My wife and her friends rushed Myles to Cardon Children’s hospital, and by the time they arrived, Myles had stopped breathing.

The campaign started with a few conversations with Toys R Us employees over Facebook. I did my best to convince Ann Marie, Debbie, Tracy, MJ, Tyler, & Teria to trust an organizer they've never met before to get on a flight to D.C. to meet with @SenSanders
The video of Toys R Us employees speaking with @SenSanders ended up getting close to 5 million views. It took our campaign to the next level – as we began to talk to hundreds of more workers, they'd already heard about us.
