Going to do a thread on the new DeVos Title IX regulations and how that is going to hurt survivors in the AUC:
*deep breathe* Ok so DeVos and her administration are looking to roll out new Title IX regulations. All of the new rules are trash and look to keep survivors silenced. See Below:

google.com/amp/s/www.nyti…
The new regulations are:
-Schools would only be held accountable to dealing with assaults that occur on campus. So any reports that occur off campus or in frat houses have to go through Atlanta Police Department.
-Schools would be allowed to deny students right to appeal.
-Survivors will have to go through mediation with their rapists.
-Both parties will be allowed to do cross examination.
-If your RA doesn’t report to Title IX you can’t hold your institution accountable for negligence.
-Schools would have to adopt “clear and convincing” standards on campus Title IX processes. Meaning a accusers right to an education will be valued over the survivors.
All of this means for HBCU students that the amount of coercion survivors deal with already is going to get worse and the DOE is allowing it.
I’ve spoken to multiple survivors in the AUC who have been coerced to drop their cases by Terraine Bailey and I’m tired of seeing the administrative support of the accused. These schools really don’t give a fuck about survivors.
I’M TELLING YALL NOW TO STAY UP TO DATE ON THE WORK @knowyourIX is doing about the latest policies and next steps.
