I don't usually like to recommend books, unless it's with respect to a specific problem.

But if you want to understand how your mind works and how it sees the world, especially from the perspective of someone who suffered a lot or is suffering, this is a pretty good book.
It's a philosophical wandering about the nature of mind and what it means to suffer.

And it can help you understand yourself in a way you might not have previously.

It can rewire your preconceptions of what you think is valuable or real in a useful way.
And it can give you a set of cognitive tools for understanding the trajectory of your life, especially if you really tremendously suffered.
