REAL TALK: Going to therapy is a privilege.

Not everyone can afford a therapist or find one in their area who is "safe" (not going to cure their identity).

It breaks my heart when I see posts that assume everyone has a therapist, access, or means to one.

Remember this.
"But it's only $30/60 a week!"

Yeah, even with insurance, therapy is expensive. That's money people with chronic health issues might not have.

We pay several doctors and still have to pick up Rx and lab costs.
In the south, queer people have to screen or audition therapists to see if they're phobic.

"Are you a raging transphobic? Do you believe asexuality is a thing? Will you dismiss my gender identity as fake?"

Some professionals do believe asexuality can be "cured," btw.
Just...be mindful before assuming anything.

A mood by Dill.
*I said "in the south" because that's my point of reference and where I live. Phobic therapists or counselors exist everywhere.

If you feel comfortable, email the office or ask the front desk before booking your appointment about the Dr's experience with people that ID like you.
I have an AMAZING family member who is a PhD counselling psychologist, & they specifically advertise being LGBTQ+ friendly at a Christian youth counselling center in the deep south.

They help teens & queer teens who would otherwise be afraid of being sent to conversion therapy.
I found a therapist I really want to go to through a LGBTQ center (the only one in my state). (Needs funds first and to pay off other drs)

Your state's Pride website is a good place to start—or gender clinic's will have counselors you know have experience with queer issues.
Hi...this blew up. I'm glad we're having excellent discussions surrounding mental health!

If you'd like to help me afford therapy or other life-saving medical treatment (medication!), I have a ko-fi:
