New Pew poll finds a substantial partisan gap in how Americans feel about Canada.

Democrats: 63% very warm, 11% somewhat warm, 16% neutral, 10% cold.
Republicans: 39% very warm, 20% somewhat warm, 26% neutral, 15% cold. pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2018…
Pew doesn't have a 2016 data to compare this data to, but other polls have suggested that Republican views on Canada have gotten substantially more negative in the Trump era. There used to be an overwhelming pro-Canada U.S. consensus, now it's not that.
In February, Gallup found that 94% of Americans had a favourable view of Canada. The difference with Pew might be methodology or question wording -- and/or that Trump started regularly criticizing Canada and Trudeau in June. news.gallup.com/poll/228293/am…

Most of the heroin Trump is talking about comes through legal ports of entry, not through unwalled areas.
Trump has never personally presented detailed data about how many children are being fraudulently used for border-crossing purposes, merely implying it's common. The evidence suggests it's a small minority of the families who cross.
Democrats have not made a "request" for a steel barrier, as far as anyone knows. They don't want any of this.

In my experience, immediately fact-checking Trump's immigration lies is harder than immediately fact-checking most other Trump lies -- they're often written into his speeches by people more sophisticated at deception than he is.
Most of Trump's lying is just Trump being a liar -- it's him ad-libbing out of speeches that are more or less factual. The immigration lying is an administration-wide strategy.
He repeats a lot of them, so outlets should be prepared to respond to those right away. But there's really no way to counteract a barrage of live-to-air Trump immigration lies with fact-checking, even if live-TV-fact-checking were a common thing - you can't do it fast enough.

1. When it comes to the upcoming Congressional elections, most media attention has been on the US House. The conventional wisdom is the Democrats will take it, because most modern presidents have lost that chamber in their first term.
2. This is a neutral historic pattern having nothing to do with the individual residing in the White House. It’s America’s way of balancing things out. With one party running the country, another party is given the power to check and balance the other.

Strong numbers for Trump after North Korea summit: New Monmouth poll finds that seven in 10 (71%) Americans thought it was a good idea and a majority (51%) thinks it's likely to decrease the nuclear threat.
One sore spot for Trump in new Monmouth poll: Only 12% of Americans think the United States gained more than North Korea did in Tuesday's summit. 38% say North Korea gained more and 39% say they gained equally.
Worth noting only 20% of Republicans (!) say the US gained more than North Korea did in Tuesday's summit. 49% say both gained equally and 22% say North Korea gained more, via new Monmouth poll.

New #PA Congressional map is pretty much the best one Democrats could have hoped for. At least 2 pickups in neutral environment, likely ability to win 11 in current D+6 environment. Post coming
PA redraw creates map that is almost entirely drawn from scratch. Huge shifts from 2016 plan all over the place. Dems favored to win 9 seats there in almost any national environment.
