Being a Jewish member of @UKLabour was once a source of pride for me, but as with many in my position it is now a badge of shame. The election of Peter Willsman to the NEC, with 70000+ votes, is the end for me.
A word on me: I didn't oppose Corbyn in 2015 (placed him 2nd on my ballot), and I work actively for justice for Palestinians and for security and civility for all in I-P at huge personal expense.
Where the Jewish community has attacked me - I've experienced threats and abuse to me and my employers - I have sought solidarity and support in progressive circles and in Labour.
But it has become increasingly clear that both the leadership and rank-and-file of the Party holds me and fellow Jews in contempt.
Willsman received seventy thousand votes. Those voters were not blind or unaware of his antisemitic views. Simply put, seventy thousand Labour members saw hating Jews as secondary to his faction and his politics.
This isn't a case of a few bad apples. This isn't a case of the leadership being blindsided. This is a systemic failure that emanates from the heart of the party.
I'm not going to stop fighting for justice, equality, or progressive values. One day I may do that as a Labour member again, but for now I cannot, in good faith, do that from within the party.
