1. Be skeptical.
2. Don't be dogmatic. Take positions but be open to changing your mind in the face of evidence.
Teach a child that teachers do get things wrong, and more frequently than we would like to admit. Our strength comes from our fallibility and our willingness to change our mind.
Teach a child polite irreverence.
Teach a child to think for themselves.
Above all, teach a child to teach. After all, all of us are teachers.
