Once upon a time, there was a lazy Kòlòkòlò (Wolf) living in a Jungle called Igbó Irúmalè. Near his house was a pond. Many animals came to the pond to drink water. The Wolf by nature was always in search of food.
One day, he was sitting near the pond hoping to get something to eat. When suddenly he spotted a dead bull. “Aha! What a luck! Now I can eat all I want," he thought and his mouth started watering.
He began to eat the bull. A thought struck him, “if another beast comes this way he will ask for a share. I had better eat fast." ‘Grub! Grub! Grub! Grub!’ he chewed, faster and faster.
In his haste, a piece of bone got stuck in his throat. “Ohh! Errk!" cried the Wolf. He tried to bring it out of his mouth. He tried to cough it out but in vain. Next, he tried to swallow it down but he failed.
“Ooh, the bone in throat hurts. What shall I do now?" thought the wolf. Suddenly he remembered that an Igún (Vulture) lived on the nearby riverbank.
The wolf went to the Vulture and pleaded, “My dear Igún! I have got a bone stuck in my throat. I will give you a present, if you pull it out of my throat with your long beak." The Vulture took pity on the wolf. He asked the wolf to look up with his mouth open.
The Vulture then put its head into the wolf’s mouth and pulled out the bone.

“Oh! What a relief!" the wolf sighed.

“Now where is my present?" asked the Igún (Vulture).

“What present?" the wolf replied, pretending not to be aware of its promise. 😡
“You said that you would give me a present if I remove the bone from your throat," said the Vulture humbly.
“Hah! Is it not a present that you put your head into my mouth and got out alive? I could have easily crushed your head while your beak was inside my mouth," said the ungrateful wolf and went away.
The Vulture felt helpless and decided not to help any ungrateful creature in the future.
Ungrateful people complain about the one thing you haven’t done for them instead of being thankful of the thousands of things you have made happen for the. Don’t invest your time into people who think it’s your obligation to cure their ills (Irrational sense of entitlement).
Pray that God grant you the serenity to accept selfish ungrateful people for who they are, the courage to not become bitter, and the wisdom not to let them have their way ever again. Their true colors often show up once they get what they want and deem you irrelevant henceforth.
To ungrateful people, you only exist when they are in need of something and will always leave you feeling used. Their loyalty ends where the benefits stop. Helping ungrateful people is like telling a Wolf you are a Sheep.
Regardless of your end at this table, the key moral here is to evaluate your relationships and manage your expectations in all ramifications. The Arabs would say A grateful dog has more worth than an ungrateful man. You can be anything you want, just don’t be ungrateful.
Would the Igún that naturally feed on corpses allow the Kòlòkòlò get away with this atrocity? I guess we will find out in 2019. 🚶🏽‍♀️
Most importantly...Dibia kpọturu mmiri ozuzo, atụkwana ụjọ égbè eluigwe so ya.
(The native doctor that causes the rain should not fear the thunderstorm that follows.) - Anyone who foment troubles must be prepared to face the repercussions.
Fact Check: There is an error in nomenclature in the story. Kòlòkòlò in English actually means Fox 🦊While Ìkokò is Wolf 🐺 So the story actually featured a cheating, slimy and Fox-like Wolf (Ìkokò - Aję’mo Jeegun - one that eats the flesh of humans and spareth not the bones). 🤓
