Outsourcing my research to Twitter: What % of the world's energy use is consumed as electricity?
A surprisingly difficult number to find, it seems. Easy to find out what % of primary energy goes to power generation, but that's not what I want to know
(This relates to the often-made but under-acknowledged point that standard primary energy data understate the importance of renewables and nuclear power, because coal and gas often has to go through a power plant to deliver usable energy)
