When I was working during college, I was sexually harassed by my employer. He was a lawyer, very prominent.
I never told anyone. I was totally ashamed, and what would have been the purpose? I never even told my husband, who I’ve been married to for more than 30 years. I didn’t tell a therapist.
I have never forgotten it, though until I wrote a book last year, I never imagined saying anything publicly.
If he were now being put forward for a Supreme Court appointment, I would feel it was my responsibility - regardless of the humiliation - to raise this long-ago chapter. I would feel this needed to be known before he could be put on the Supreme Court for life.
That is why I believe Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.
