If you, like me, have been trying to figure out the preferred term of address for Christine Blasey Ford, I just went back and checked and her attorneys referred to her as "Dr. Ford" in their Tuesday letter to Grassley. cnn.com/2018/09/18/pol…
(Also: The Washington Post, which has interviewed her, uses "Ford." The New York Times, which has not, uses "Blasey.")
Dr. Ford uses her birth name—Christine Blasey—professionally, but available evidence points strongly to her preferring "Dr. Ford" in coverage of her allegations against Judge Kavanaugh. So that's what I'll be using from here on out.
(In the publishing world, "Dr. Ford" vs. "Ford" is a matter of house style. I don't read anything into a news site's decision to use or skip the honorific in this case unless there's an inconsistency with how they refer to other public figures.)
So either "Ford" or "Dr. Ford" is fine for casual use, but if you want to follow her preferences, it appears you should avoid "Blasey," "Dr. Blasey," and "Blasey Ford."
(Thread inspired by a conversation I had with @CopyCurmudgeon last night—she pointed out the NYT/WaPo distinction and set me to hunting.)
