One thing this Kavanaugh stuff is doing is giving us a light preview for what nomination hearings are going to look like in about 15 years if nothing changes.
We're digging through yearbooks and high schools friends. But that still takes work. In about 15 years, the press is going to be easily able to access 3-4 generations of social media history for every nominee.

"Hey, what was Upstate like in high school?" They ask people who share a hometown with you. Did everyone like you in high school? Hope so.
What pictures did you forget about on your Facebook feed? What stupid comments that can be taken out of context. What kind of stuff does your dad say? What pages have you liked?
If @DD214_IG can out fake military with Google and background check software, what can the government find on a nominee when everything's public? What can CNN?

Only for Republican nominees, of course. Democrats will have the benefit of a friendly media suggesting children and parents shouldn't be put through this because it might prevent good people from serving.
