So @LenMcCluskey tells @JPonpolitics that if there is a people’s vote, remain should not even be on the ballot paper. It should be Theresa May’s deal vs no deal.
Then, says @LenMcCluskey, if May lost the referendum, there’d be a general election, Labour would win and be in place to negotiate a better deal. Which seems to mean that he would campaign in a referendum for No Deal.
This, incidentally, is the kind of thing I had in mind when I wrote of some of my concerns on how a People's Vote could play out here theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
Now @johnmcdonnellMP echoes that same position on @BBCRadio4: if there is a People’s Vote, it’ll be a Noel Edmonds referendum - deal or no deal. No option to remain.
Not sure this is quite what Labour members campaigning for a #PeoplesVote had in mind

A few people have asked what, if anything, Jeremy Corbyn could do to defuse the current antisemitism issue. Here are some thoughts. (Thread)
He might consider giving a speech. But for such a speech to succeed it would need to do a few, very difficult things.
It would need to be personal and self-critical. On the mural, he would need to admit that he looked at a nakedly antisemitic image and could not see the racism. That his response to hearing it was coming down was to ask, "Why?"

I love the book 1984. It's a great work of art which will outlive everyone who reads these words. However, it can become a millstone for those who read it, the inevitability of it all is bad for morale.

Hence I advocate "Orwell's Oversight".
I've pitched the concept in the broadest possible sense:

Any instance where the official line is publicly contradicted. Orwell suggested a society of citizens, constantly watched and controlled. Instead we live in a world where everyone is watched by everyone else.
1984 is a victim of its own success. A vision so compelling it has enchanted many, including those in positions of power, but to mistake it for reality is to live in an oppressive fiction.

Liberation is in the fact the internet's all-seeing-eye works both ways; we can see them.

How @DailyMailUK twisted the results of @Survation poll and created a nice little frontpage to support Theresa May with some beautiful YESes in red and some lovely supporting words, even though the front page does not actually reflects the results of the poll...
So, let's have a closer look at some of the questions asked and the ACTUAL answers of voters...
Q1. When UK Govt's negotiations over the terms of Britain's exit from #EU are complete, would you support or oppose holding a People's Vote - a referendum - asking the public their view?

Let’s add a little context to the discussion of voting security in the US. To do that, I’m going to do something Computer Scientists are bad at - I’m going to talk about history. Specifically, let’s look at the Help America #Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002. 1/
The reason to talk about HAVA is to start recognizing some of the challenges of paper ballot-based voting. HAVA came about largely because paper ballots were proving to be extremely difficult to manage. 2/
For instance, paper ballots are expensive (they’re not printed on standard college-rule paper), and they’re not reusable across elections. You’ve also got to try and guess who is going to show up to the poll, and how many ballots you’ll need in each language. 3/

I've been doing a bit of number crunching to see what date, with no-one changing their minds, demographics will show that the British people voted to remain. That date is 27th January 2021. On that date, the UK voted #Remain. (1/3)
