So @LenMcCluskey tells @JPonpolitics that if there is a people’s vote, remain should not even be on the ballot paper. It should be Theresa May’s deal vs no deal.
Then, says @LenMcCluskey, if May lost the referendum, there’d be a general election, Labour would win and be in place to negotiate a better deal. Which seems to mean that he would campaign in a referendum for No Deal.
This, incidentally, is the kind of thing I had in mind when I wrote of some of my concerns on how a People's Vote could play out here theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
Now @johnmcdonnellMP echoes that same position on @BBCRadio4: if there is a People’s Vote, it’ll be a Noel Edmonds referendum - deal or no deal. No option to remain.
Not sure this is quite what Labour members campaigning for a #PeoplesVote had in mind
