The official story (echoed by Woodward) that Flynn was fired for lying to the VP makes NO sense. Flynn and Kislyak had 5 calls. Why so many calls? B/c they're middlemen. Kislyak checked-in w/ Moscow, Flynn w/ Mar-a-Lago and w/ KT. Flynn didn't go rogue. 1/ washingtonpost.com/amphtml/world/…
So if Flynn was coordinating his tps, he wasn't fired for "lying" to Pence. So why was he fired? It wasn't for talking about sanctions. Flynn c/d've easily said he was trying to get Russia not to sanction the US, not to evict US diplomats and succeeded. That's in US interests. 2/
But Flynn never argues that. Why not? My guess is that's b/c the "underlying conduct," as identified by Sally Yates pointed to something deeper and more nefarious. Flynn had exposed himself on that call and became a huge liability.
