2. From the outset, McConnell has sought to portray Kavanaugh's confirmation as a foregone conclusion

The purpose is to discourage and depress the opposition.

Last week was a perfect example of why it's important to IGNORE all that noise

3. After the hearing, McConnell quickly announced a series of votes to create a momentum narrative. Flake released a statement saying he was going to support Kavanaugh.

But two women didn't get discouraged and confronted Flake in an elevator

4. Flake changed his mind and announced he would only support Kavanaugh on the floor after a week-long FBI investigation.

In an interview Flake said it was these women and ALL THE PEOPLE WHO CONTACTED HIS OFFICE AND OTHER SENATORS who changed his mind

5. So yes, politics is extremely screwed up. But last week there was at least one example of things working like they are supposed to. Don't fall for McConnell's games this week.

Absolutely no evidence of this. Trump cites the cost of illegal drugs, most of which come through official ports of entry.

This is not true. And the deal hasn't even been approved by Congress.

I get mail every day about the various policies debated in Congress. But I have never had mail like this. This is bigger than the fight over a court nomination.
I’ve heard from women of different ages and backgrounds, some who have held their secrets for years. Those I quote have given me permission, even encouraged me, to share their words. For privacy, their names and other identifying information has been removed.

I wouldn’t bet on it Mitch. My bet is that after the hearing on Thursday, Collins will find the allegations believable, and oppose the #Kavanaugh nomination; one or more other Rs will then surely follow suit. 2/3
The Rs should have cut their losses and pulled the nomination last week.

The worst possible outcome for them is to fight an ugly battle and then lose the nomination. That will do the most to demoralize the R base, and the most to energize women and the #resistance. 3/3

McConnell is currently praising the integrity of Chuck Grassley, and letting loose on Senate Democrats.

Is also criticizing the veracity of Dr. Ford's story, and trying to paint her as unreasonable for having accommodation requests.

McConnell is now trying to smear @RonanFarrow @JaneMayerNYer's New Yorker story about Deborah Rodriguez. Claiming the allegation is so thin, NYT refused to run the Rodriguez story.
