DOJ just announced Corey Amundson, a former acting US attorney in Louisiana, will lead the Office of Professional Responsibility. OPR investigates misconduct claims against DOJ attorneys, immigration judges, and federal law enforcement agents
OPR is different from the inspector general's office. A big distinction is OPR will investigate ethics claims against lawyers and complaints about how lawyers handled cases — OIG doesn't do that, it's focused on broader workplace-related issues (fraud, waste, harassment, etc.)
This has been a source of tension in the past — the inspector general's office, which is independent of DOJ leadership, has argued it should have the power to investigate attorney ethics/misconduct issues. OPR is within DOJ
