13. A committee led by Marina Salye alleged that the Mayor of the city Anatoly Sobchak, Putin, Petr Aven, and the St. Petersburg government entered into contracts with dubious shell companies and appropriated the money.
14. In 1992, the scandal was silenced. The documents disappeared from the archives. In 1999, Putin came to power. He is still the President of Russia in 2018. Salye lived in exile ten years after Putin’s rise and gave several interviews in 2010.
15. In 2012, the story broke again and many believed that it had the potential to sink Putin. Salye re-appeared in St.Petersburg at a protest and made a public speech. Few days after, she suddenly died. She predicted her death & claimed that many of her colleagues were murdered.

17. If the investigations are silenced and the journalists are killed or exiled, democracy stops existing. Tyranny becomes a reality. Take it from me: I already saw it once.
