At this point, I hope and pray that change is certain, it has to be. Peace is usually followed by disturbances, departure of evil men by their return. The current leadership don’t appear to be leaders at all. Where has the integrity of an oath gone? Of the people by the people...
God, duty, country, where’s that? How is it that so many of our elected “leaders” have been led say? How is it our last bastion of hope for our democracy been compromised? The compromise of intelligence and integrity truly sickens me. Who can follow a leader with no direction?
Who has not served cannot command. We are not being served by our current leaders. The test of leadership is the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency. The Supreme Court is supposed to be the epitome of ethics. Ethics must begin at the top.
We are in a place where any egregious act can be justified and explained by calling it “partisanship”, where obvious lies can be relabeled “alternative facts”, where the @USSenate can sit a man who openly lied and disrespected to them and justify it with cowardly votes for the
purpose of being re-elected. Who and why would any senator vote present for the seating of a Supreme Court Justice? Why would any Senator vote for a defiant, obnoxious, misleading, clearly partisan, biased nominee? Is the future to be directed by old white men and money?
Do we, as a people, as a country, want to be ruled by a monolithic group of people who think that is in the best interest of everyone to live their lives the way that they think they should? The supposed constitutionalists want to adhere to a 229 yr. old document without
recognizing that the constitution was supposed to be a living breathing document that like all things,changes.To say I will be a strict constructionist is to say that I believe that the white men who wrote it were correct about everything and it still applies in the
21st century.
Can we ever get back to some semblance of normalcy? I love and respect all people, all life. Shouldn’t our elected officials do the same. My father taught me to respect everyone up to and until they disrespect you or those around you. Blatant disrespect of those who are to
provide advice and consent to an individual who will be the arbiter of all things that effect the lives of us all should have the utmost respect and commitment to justice.
To mock, ridicule, disrespect and vow to defeat another because of a different point of view is ridiculous. To say that you are right and anyone with a different opinion is wrong is asinine.
There’s an increasingly pervasive sense of not only failure, but of futility. The legislative process has become a cruel shell game. Politics has become where’s the money, how can we make easier for us and suppress them? The only folks that should prosper are the ones who think
like me. The ones who look like me. The ones that are like me. The ones are not, well they don’t belong except to serve me.
That mindset, that culture, will cause our country to implode. To install a a person of like mind to judge all of the people of different and varying minds is an attempt to control thoughts and behaviors thereby extinguishing democracy. The senators today have proven that there
are two types of politicians, the ones that are courageous and honest, and those that hope to have a long and steep career. Manchin, Flake, Collins, Murkowski, I’m referring to you. Really Senator “I’m voting present”? Apparently the art of governing mankind by deceiving them.
Finality of lifetime appointments and unlimited terms are not supposed to be the language or purpose of politics. #termlimits
Do we realize that 85 year old white men are deciding the future of our country in the terms of jurisprudence and voting rights act is only 54 years old?
Why can our politicians live by the mantra “ I am always going to be true to myself”?
