1. Few days ago, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of United Nations has released a crucial report on 1.5° C. In this report, it stated that the world's weather has risen dramatically and call upon government to provide any measure to reduce emissions.
2. If this continues, the atmosphere traps high amount of emission, causing the earth's condition to be unstable and resulting unexpected natural phenomena.
3. However, before we talk further about the report, the impact been shown in Johore Bahru. The city was hit by flash flood due to overflowing rain for 3 consecutive days. As a result, several major roads been blocked and some areas of housing and village have been flooded.
4. At the same time, it has caused traffic congestion and landslide incident at Rumah Seri Kenangan which placing more than 180 elderly residents. Although this incident is beyond our expectation, we are able to reduce the risk rate slowly with a constructive plan and measure.
5. This is the time for local authorities and Johore State Government together with the people taking the interest of climate change in our society seriously.
6. I hope that there will be an immediate action to create a Disaster Risk Reduction Plan, Climate Resilient City Plan, Johore Bahru City Adaptation Plan
7. and review the restructuring and planning of Johore Town Bahru under @mbjbcitycouncil and Johore State Government to prevent such things from happening.
8. I call upon the government be more proactive on address the issue. If the state government and the local council do not take this thing seriously,
9. it will affect the socioeconomic situation in Johore Bahru and reflect on the people that the government of the day failed to address and solve people's problems.
