The brutal murder of #JamalKhashoggi is less about a fearless journalist being silenced and more about a royal court insider who knew too much. There is a distinction. The real Jamal wrote in Arabic defending Saudi's most henious crimes.
What happened to him is absolutely brutal and tragic and shows the lengths to which Riyadh will go to eliminate threats against the regime. Jamal was a regime insider for the longest of times, making him potentially more dangerous.
Receipts:
"The state has decisively eliminated Nimr al-Nimr and his sectarian separatist project but there are those among us who revive his peoject with aaccusations of treason against our Shia brothers and stupid calls to boycott them."
On the war in #Yemen:
"This is my country that I know, this is the decisiveness that saves the region, today it's Yemen and tomorrow Syria and after that peace and prosperity in a new Arab east.
#DecisiveStorm"
On war in #Yemen
"The independent Saudi decision should be to continue [the war] at all cost until victory, because if we stop we will go back to a position worse than we were before the glorious day in which the first Saudi jet took off toward Yemen..."

There are countless examples of #Khashoggi parroting regime propaganda and defending its heinous crimes. He does not deserve to be brutally murdered. Arabs also deserve better than to be patronised by western journalists who lost their charismatic and well connected friend.
