Under zones are particularly important to "rob" when facing a back up, likely to have quick passes etc get the ball out of his hands. We knew Wilson is a YAC thread, squeezing zones and running robbers to him as a play side is a nice adjustment



Haven't looked at the all 22 yet, but most of the damage Vs us on D was on YAC. Also, as we ran zone all day Vs East/West concepts, we didn't help ourselves as stop/start change of direction stuff will gas backers & safeties more than corners.
The D did play well in parts, but the typical zones we ran maybe gave too much respect to a back up QB with a patchwork O Line. In hindsight and as I tweeted before the game, this was the time for am aggressive D game plan.

Press man/half zone robbers to Wilson's side. Beat us!
This coupled with the heat, didn't help us on D, but this was a team loss.

We left the Howard fumble -7 it's, the call on Burton followed by RZ int -15 points (TD & 2pt).. and Parkey.

I'm going to say this once, because it's Christmas and it's a rant.

I don't care what Pat Mahomes does, or Deshaun Watson, I'm not interested in comparing them, or second guessing Ryan Pace anymore...

We've had a shit show team for several years now, we've had QBs who are
either ineptitude, or a talented narcissist who is uncoachable (see turnover).

We've been the whipping boy, the laughing stock & a source of amusement for others...

But this year, and for the foreseeable future we have a GM who knows talent in coaching & roster.

We have a HC
who had transformed the culture in a single year, introduced parts of a complicated offense which he's made fit to our team, he's improved players who last year looked bad.

We have a defense that is the envy of the league, & an offense in its infancy which can score on anyone.

Unlike the salary cap in Pro Football, there is a limit on scholarships (full ride) each team can give. Best recruits go to best schools (academic or pro-rated or sometimes both).

Because of this there are often mismatches of talent ctd.
@Iamvick But that said, talented coaches often get their first big step in lower colleges. They bring great coaching & hunger to their teams & programs elevate.

The atmosphere at college games is massively different, even at lower tiers.

There are often kids who weren't recruited ctd..
@Iamvick Who end up on lower tier teams, kids who didn't qualify academically, those who can't afford to be anywhere but local & last chance kids.

These kids know adversity, know the life lessons some others don't get. So there's a battle of wits, talent & will at college level ctd..

This thread represents my personal opinions, and not the opinions of any other organization.
I say that because I *know* I am going to get in trouble for this thread.

I know it because even alluding to it publicly before has led to serious backlash—people emailing the RWA Board about how Courtney is Being Terrible Online Again.
I am not trying to be terrible online.

I am saying this because I do not see how we can move forward as an organization if the white women who make up the bulk of the membership remain unaware of just how *badly* WOC are being hurt.
