Dear Northern Nigeria,

How long do you intend to carry on with this barbaric, senseless, and devilish act of yours? At the slightest and slimmest of provocation you threaten fire.

Northern Nigeria, a predominantly muslim dominated region known for its vicious, violent and intolerant habitats. yet, again, drives the region through bloodbath.

The north have a history of communal/ ethno religious crisis that dates back to the 60s and 70s way before I was born, history have shown.

This bloodletting, no doubt is against the tenets and cardinal principles of Islam.

Unfortunately, the actions and inaction of these sons of perdition has somewhat dent the image of Islam amongst the non muslims, as though, they fight a just cause and will be rewarded in the hereafter.

The Prophet Rosool, (SAW) whose teaching centered on peace, patience,tolerance and respect for cultural differences among others was quoted to have said "if you engage in a scuffle with a fellow man by which he sustained injury with blood evidence is as good as saying you...

... have taken his life".

Does this reflects the reality in north today? Absolutely NOT! Sometimes some of us who are southern muslims are left with no choice but to wonder if truly what is practised in the north is Islam or some bloodthirsty tradition that has little or no...

...no respect for human life.

The wanton killings in Kaduna State, is unfortunate and should be wholly condemned by all and sundry. Though, from time in memorial the state has established itself as a fertile ground for crisis. The 2001,2006,2011 religious and political crisis..

is a case study.

As glaring as this is, the governor mallam Nasir El-Rufai, went ahead to impose turbaning of traditional rulers in Southern Kaduna, a predominantly christian populated area of the state making a caricature of the long aged Chiefdom title.

Clearly, the crisis could have been avoided if wisdom was applied taking to cognisance the crisis history of the state. Sad much!

Sadly, northern elites succeeded in taken away western education from the poor, hand them religion, impoverished them and encourage their men to...

...marry more women and bore more children than they can cater for for political gains (when you hear them say we have the numbers) whilst their children relished quality western education overseas with up to date health care facilities as well as Islamic education.

This clearly makes the children of the elites stand out amongst their counterparts whose parents cannot afford the luxury of good life and quality education simply because they were short changed and common wealth stolen by the parents of the so called well educated.

In all of these brutal experiences of life they grow tick skin and become mean to anyone who tries to challenge their belief system.

Ignorantly, they wittingly and unwittingly become a tool in the hands of politicians who use them to reck havoc on political ally turn foe...

when relationship go south and the larger society when things didn't go their direction.

The north cannot gain social economic development with crisis ravaging most part of it. We should all come together irrespective of our religious, ethnic, and social differences in one voice

...to fight a common enemy in a bid to restore lasting peace, tranquillity and progress back to this great land of our forefathers.

Mind you, an average northerner is hospitable, friendly, religious, honest and very kind hearted, but the zero respect for human life overshadowed these exemplary qualities.
