A thread.

Last night I attended a Woman’s Place UK meeting in Bath. It was a huge success with original, funny, and well informed speakers, excellent attendance, and a great venue. Having personally been subject to much intimidation during my time campaigning and organising
against self identification of sex becoming enshrined into law, I was relieved to see only a few quiet protestors near the entrance.

As I walked past though, a young man said this to me:
“Did you know that trans people were the first to be exterminated by the Nazis?”
What relevance he imagined this might have to women meeting in order to discuss a current proposed change to UK law that directly affects them, I have no idea, but of all the wildly offensive things I have heard from the mouths of trans activists, this in particular struck me.
For one, how does he know? And how is it possible? Many people walking around 1930’s Germany who believed that gender identity (a thoroughly modern concept) trumped or erased their biological sex, were there? And if there were, how were they immediately identifiable and
distinguishable from other persecuted groups? Is it likely there were many men drawing attention to themselves by openly dressing and living as women in Nazi occupied Europe, do we think? Much historical evidence that the Nazis made the specific extermination of trans people
very first priority, is there?

But the absurdity of his statement aside, we need to look at what kind of mind takes the worst stain on our collective human history: the genocide of six million Jewish people, and twists it to make it all about themselves?
Who, with a serious face, could stand and say that the first - and by implication *most important* - victims of the holocaust were, in fact, trans? Even though the entire concept of transgender as we understand it today did not even exist then and we have no way of knowing how
the gender non conforming people of the day understood themselves?

I am sickened by the narcissism of this movement. I am enraged by it. It takes my breath away - the obsession with itself, the solipsism, the belief that all other suffering fades into insignificance in
comparison with the suffering of some silly little posh boy who imagines himself to be the opposite sex. Even the worst genocide in human history becomes, in his mind, all about him, and women who are desperately fighting to hold onto the few sex based rights they have
that will enable them and their daughters to engage in public life on a more equal footing, become somehow equated with the perpetrators of that genocide.

I only hope that one day, he looks back on his young self and cringes all the way down to his boots.

End of thread.
