One of the things I did today: investigate opportunities to volunteer at food banks throughout the next month.

I’m hopeful about Tuesday. I’m hopeful it is the a step towards righting our country’s ship.

Yet, I’m also aware that there’s a chance it may be less good news than we want.

One thing I learned from going through some serious sh** is that the best way to get up is to not stay down long.

If, god forbid, we should fall short on Tuesday, there will be many who will be down.

I’m going to draw them close and be there.

Nothing triumphs over grief like human connections.

I’m hopeful these afternoons of service will feel like moments of renewal as a new day dawns.

I’m prepared either way though. There are people who will need us more than ever if we fall short. Being there is on my calendar... for both our sakes.

p.s. for me, making a “what I’ll do next either way” plan is a safety blanket of sorts.

It’s a safeguard against needing to figure out how to get up when it feels so hard to do that.

Not sure that makes sense but it’s worked for me through no shortage of bad sh**.
