Some liberals are trying to justify having condemned the protesters at Tucker Carlson's home, despite Carlson's horror stories being debunked, by saying we can't "normalize" protests at people's homes. Let's pick this apart, shall we?
In 1970, after the conviction of five members of the Chicago seven, 140 people were arrested marching to the Watergate Complex, which housed three cabinet members, two senators, and Nixon’s chief of protocol. This was not a new tactic then either. dcist.com/story/18/06/27…
Home visit protests have a long history, but there are plenty of recent examples. People have protested outside officials' homes to defend public education, like these folks, who were protesting Rahm Emanuel's school closures in Chicago. chicago.suntimes.com/politics/schoo…
People have protested at officials' homes over homelessness and immigration, like these folks in L.A., who hit up their mayor's house in protest. latimes.com/local/lanow/la…
People have protested at folks' homes in defense of healthcare, like these folks who showed up senators' homes to stop Trumpcare. thinkprogress.org/constituents-p…
After a Native man named Paul Castaway was murdered by police, and the state refused to prosecute, protesters went to the home of Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey. It was quite a scene. unicornriot.ninja/2015/protester…
It's not just a longstanding tactic, it's a hard hitting one that can help win grassroots campaigns. theappeal.org/chicago-mayor-…

When celebrities try to create and enforce standards of civility within movement work, just say no.
Well, Simon complains that antifa is moving the line in a way that gives more license to the right when, in fact, it is Simon who is attempting to move the line in a way that vilifies longstanding leftist grassroots tactics -- all to condemn antifa.
I have honestly lost track of how many times I've protested outside the homes of public officials.
In this piece @MayaSchenwar and I talk about the kind of solidarity that's needed right now, what's at stake in the struggle against fascism, and where we can look for examples of how to do better. truthout.org/articles/the-m…
