It's slow going on the Withdrawal Agreement, but Article 7 pp.14-15 is the bit which was getting Boris Johnson so worked up when he talked about the UK becoming a "vassal state", because it spells out that we won't participate in, or have any say over, future EU decision-making.
It would be fascinating to hear what database and network specialists think about Article 8, concerning future access to "any network, any information system and any database established on the basis of Union law" being cut off as of the end of transition?
Page 31. point (c) covers the fact that the UK's system for registering EU citizens is nowhere near up to scratch (it would need to work 36x faster than the beta test in order to register everyone in time) so they can keep extending the deadline to register a year at a time.
Point (j) on p.33 will be a relief for people having to apply for documents, because it basically says "copies should be allowed" for stuff other than passports or Government ID i.e. you don't have to send all your original docs off to Immigration and pray they don't lose them.
(I'm beginning to realise it's literally impossible to fully understand the W.A. on its own, because it keeps referencing extant documents. You'd have to have all the other documents it references lined up in order to understand the references. Hope the Cabinet did all that!)
point (o) on p37 is good news, because it forces Immigration to try and help EU citizens fix any problems or deficiencies in their applications (i.e. Hostile Environment should not apply). Whether that will be adhered to in practice, though, is another matter...
P.61 is a bit rough. It says that the conditions in the W.A. only apply to nationals of Iceland, Liechenstein, Norway and Switzerland if the countries in question conclude corresponding agreements with the UK. In other words, limbo a while longer for those people in question.
General comment, coming out of news coverage: we get a one-time chance to extend the transition period. That's it. The extension period itself is undefined (could it for example be a century if both sides agreed - who knows?) but it's a one-time deal. After that, it's backstop.
