I am not covering the Pelosi speakership battle and not following it closely but in regards to the issue of her age, I wanted to bring up a point I think I read in @rtraister's "All the Single Ladies" regarding women's career arcs: it often takes longer for women ...
... to reach positions of power because of the detours they had to take along the way to raise their kids, care for parents, etc. Especially for women of Pelosi's generation where there was a greater expectation that women would primarily shoulder that burden...
...and thus had to take breaks from their jobs in order to do so. Madeleine Albright discusses similar issues in her memoir as well. That is something that should be taken into account when evaluating whether Nancy Pelosi, and other women, are "too old" to lead
