In an ideal scenario, now would be when the Winter Session of Parliament would commence. It would go on till the end of next month.

But then it's election time and MPs are currently needed to do their real jobs: Campaign.
I'm waiting for the day when the state leadership will tell their national leadership, "You do your jobs in Delhi, we can handle our state. We'll be the ones governing it anyway. Not you."
On that note, here's wishing you a very happy #ConstitutionDay!

Here’s where things get odd. Spent my summer evenings off from SG developing a new course for Georgetown EDM on nexus of climate adaptation & emergency & disaster mgmt. There's little to go on. So hard to believe of an extension specialist but I'M LITERALLY AN EXPERT IN THIS.

1/ In February, I had written a piece about how our perception of historical time had undergone a change and in it, I had briefly alluded to a German historian, Reinhart Koselleck (1923-2006). This thread is about his work.
2/ More accurately, this thread is about one particular essay, which I think is a very instructive way to think about how our perception of time has undergone change & more obliquely about contemporary efforts to think of the past as an undifferentiated whole.
3/ The essay I refer to is Koselleck’s inaugural lecture as professor of history in Heidelberg, 1965. First published as “Vergangene Zukunft der frühen Neuzeit”; later translated & is part of his essay collection ‘Futures Perfect’, published by @columbiaup.

1. I've been meaning to do a little thread to update you all on what's happening in my life (and as an intro for new followers). I just sent off my monthly newsletter for Patreon patrons; with that fresh in my mind, this is probably a good time. Except it's a also a terrible time
2. You see, I've been wanting to do this on a day when we're not all reeling from yet more horrific news, but at this point I have no idea when we might see another day like that, so I guess now will have to do. The biggest news, which some of you know, is that I'm leaving Tampa.
3. Not only am I leaving Tampa, but I am leaving Tampa without full-time employment either here, or where I'm going, a north suburb of Indianapolis. Where I'll live with my parents for a while. How and why that's happening is sort of a #RealAcademicBios story.
