X : Does Amazon use mapping?
Me : No. Mapping is rare and almost unheard of in terms of formal use. It's more a case of I have friends that use mapping and they work for all sorts of organisations. Give it another 30 years, it's only 13 years into its journey - early days.
Where it does exist, I tend to find small pockets of "mappers" within some organisations. It's the nature of how it is growing, spread by use from one to another. It's a slow process but then changing management practices always is. 30-50 years is the benchmark I use.
X : Could you make it spread faster?
Me : Why would I? My interest is purely that people map and teach others to map because they find it useful. I have no interest in people creating maps because they think they need to have one. Maps for mapping's sake is pointless.
