Juliet (18) and her elder Sister Jane (21) were born into a family of 5, where the boy child is raised as king. They have 3 elder brothers who were raised chaotically according to her scary illustration. Now that their parents are weak- they’re all facing the consequences of this
The temper tantrums were nothing much to worry about as kids she quipped. But now that the boys are grown & out of school without much to do, they have become homegrown terror for all. Abuse of substances didn’t help their case and violent behavior became a culture. #HearMeToo
It is either they start breaking up things in the house in concert threatening their parents for money or threatening their sisters violently & sometimes assaulting them till they will no doubt require medical intervention. This has been going on for a while she lamented. #16Days
Some days back the boys threatened and declared a curfew. They made the girls know that they’ll be hurt badly if they show any sign of defiance to the martial law. But the Jane decided to go out for an interview calling their bluff & they descended on her till she couldn’t walk.
Juliet in trepidation said they have lost quite a number of phones in uncontrollable rage of their brothers forcing their will on them. I inquire if they had reported them to the police but she said the way they’ll handle the case will put them in more danger. #16Days #HearMeToo
In my view, these boys are dangerous to society. People who freely inflict pain and threaten their own family will do worse to to strangers they believe are in their way. These ladies are traumatized and have been walking on eggshells for years. #HearMeToo #16DaysOfActivism
This is highly condemnable. Our structures within society must begin to take mental health seriously. Gender Based Violence is on the rise with the towering ego of impotent men in the society, who take out their frustrations on Women. #16DaysOfActivism #HearMeToo
These ladies have talents, hopes and aspiration under a socio-political clime that weaponizes poverty and deem oppression a virtue. Now they are prisoners in their own home with weak parents whose only meals are regrets, tears and helplessness. #16DaysOfActivism #HearMeToo
We are doing our best with counseling, engagement and intervention but this is prevalent and our society hardly take this seriously. It is time to criminalize Gender Based Violence as a Crime against the State. This may be a necessary path to preserve the rights of women. 😞
