In my capacity as Chairman of the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), I am convening a consultation of Heads of State and Government of the LCBC, for November 29, 2018, in N’Djamena, Chad.
The objective of the one-day meeting is to review the security situation in areas affected by the Boko Haram insurgency, as well as adopt measures to enhance the capacity of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to secure the region.
I have invited the presidents of the LCBC member countries: Chad, Cameroon, Niger, and the Central African Republic, to attend the meeting. Also invited is the President of the Republic of Benin, which also contributes troops to the MNJTF.

A year ago, on November 27, 2017, I inaugurated the National Minimum Wage Committee,with a mandate to recommend a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers. I am pleased that they have now completed their work,and submitted the Report. The entire nation is grateful for their service.
From the onset, we knew the committee had a difficult task ahead of it; that there would be heated debates and strong differences, on the way to a consensus position acceptable by all parties.
It is truly inspiring is that, in all of this, the members of the Committee always came back to the negotiating table with a common goal of improving the welfare of Nigerian workers.

His Eminence John Cardinal Onaiyekan, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja and His Eminence Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto are the Co-Initiators of this Initiative, which has continued to work for peace and peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians.
Our Primary Elections are over, it is my hope that all who feel aggrieved would put the stability of Nigeria first, before their political ambitions, and accept the decision of their political parties or seek resolution through party reconciliation mechanisms or the law courts.

A couple of thoughts on the supposed "get rich quick" scheme that is climate change research. Let's look at the anatomy of a hypothetical $1 million federal grant to study climate change. 1/15
First, you need to know that approximately 50% goes straight to the principal investigator's (PI) institution in the form of overhead. Overhead is what universities use to fund everything from startup packages for new scientists to pay for research facilities. 2/15
Because social scientists' overhead costs are low--we don't need supercolliders or scientific laboratory space--this money is a bonus for the university (and a reason they like social scientists who can get grants). 3/15
