1) Practice!!
Me : A couple of weeks. Depends upon how quickly you go through the exercises. The course - learn.leadingedgeforum.com/p/wardley-mapp… - was put together by @kda (aka @wardleymaps) and is provided by the @lefep (where I work).
Me : It's a private member funded research organisation, part of @DXCTechnology working for @DanHushon ... I write research for them (in which I use mapping), teach members how to map (in workshops), they sponsor Map Camp London and allow me time for speaking.
Me : Are you asking me to write your strategy?
X : Well, to help.
Me : Ok. I'm happy to help. Learn to map.
X : I was looking for more.
Me : Learn to map, be a good community member and I'll mull it over.
X : Is that a yes?
Me : No, that's a depends.
Me : That's kind but as I said it's not something I offer. Learn to map and help yourself.
X : How long does it take to get good at mapping?
Me : Depends on you. Give yourself 5 years.
X : I need to move quicker.
Me : Well, the secret is to start.
Me : No. My sum total in speaking fees for a decade is $0. I'm a salaried researcher. But LEF will often charge as it takes me away from core work. How much, well it's a negotiation. The only thing I need is flights, hotels and expenses covered.
