I genuinely need someone to explain to me why this wasn't a huge issue in the recent run off election.

Literally 1 in 5 African Americans in Mississippi is permanently disenfranchised & it didn't seem to even be a topic of conversation.

I tweeted about it at the time - & I think maybe some people outside of Mississippi thought the figures were shocking, but not shocking enough that I saw any mainstream media write about it. sentencingproject.org/publications/f…
Of course the restoration of voting rights in Florida only happened a few weeks before, but I would have thought that, & Cindy Hyde-Smith's racist comments would have at least opened the door to this discussion.
But, it wasn't.

Now the question and focus has to be how do we get the massive bipartisan support we need for a movement to restore voting rights the way they were in Florida before the next election in 2020.
