Hi, I read and took screenshots of this garbage article so you didn’t have to give them clicks.

That’s assuming you’d want to read Lena Dunham’s trash apology to Aurora Perrineau, of course.

Let’s take a look.
Real quick—in case you aren’t aware of what she’s apologizing for this time, here’s a 1-year-old article by @kelleent explaining it all. The article also provides examples of some glorious backlash she was receiving from Black twitter.

Anyway, let’s start.

Lena Dunham: My Apology to Aurora
Yes, you certainly did.
Dunham starts this off with saying it’s been an incredible year for women because of the dialogue about all sorts of stuff, especially sexual assault and harassment.

Women have spoken loudly, yes, but why did you silence a Black woman after she was raped by your friend?
Dunham begins to mention mistakes but then diverts and delves into a story of her rejoicing after Weinstein was outed as a sexual predator.

She’s easing the reader into it, essentially.

She wants you to know there were mistakes, yes, but look at all the achievements, too!
Dunham then tries to garner sympathy. She wants you to understand the pain she feels as a victim of sexual assault and how she copes with it—medication, drama—so that you may be less harsh on her for not considering the harm she does to others.

It’s all abusive bullshit.
And now that you have the achievement—Weinstein—and the sympathy, you get the bombshell.

Dunham never had “insider information” about the sexual assault like she claimed.

She didn’t just deny her friend raped someone and stand by him, she also actively /lied/ for him.
It’s important to note this information came in the middle of the article—not the beginning.

And she didn’t elaborate on it, either. She just merely mentioned it, which means she’s hoping it’s just sort of overlooked.
Here, Dunham is asking a woman who was sexually assaulted by her friend—and who she publicly lied about—how to move forward.

Sorry, Lena, but that’s not her job. Aurora doesn’t need to help you get over your guilt of being a shitty fucking person.
She says she had internalized the “dominant male agenda” when she could have just said “misogyny,” but whatever.

What she unsurprisingly didn’t mention, however, was the white privilege she has that allowed her to easily side with her white male friend over a Black woman.
CW: sexual assault/harassment

Dunham describes some of her experiences here. I’m not gonna lie, this is a very shitty thing to do. You’re apologizing to a woman for calling her a liar, and in the same breath you’re detailing your own sexual assaults. Don’t fucking do that.
She even addressed Aurora’s mom. Why?
This is the end.

Eat shit, Lena.
