1/ Cal Newport’s book, “Deep work” addresses three archetypes that thrive in today’s world

- Expert/Highly Skilled (Nate Silver)
- Superstar (DHH)
- Owner (John Doerr)

From his book: “I should first confess that I have no secret for…becoming the next John Doerr”

Bummer!
2/ He also mentions @jack as an e.g of someone not engaging in deep work.

While I’m a fan of Cal, there needs to be more of the study of the intersection of deep & *broad* work - what that Dorsey, Doerr, and others do.

Or “networked work” as described:
3/ What is broad or “networked” work?

- Ability to build / maintain networks
- Ability to context-switch / multi-task
- Ability to understand leverage points in systems and what brings value

Not everyone can or should give up email/social, but that plus deep work could co-exist
