You're claiming that Flynn lying to the FBI about what he told the Russian ambassador, in an investigation of the Trump campaign's *contacts with Russia*, is not a material lie?

I reiterate: you've lost your mind.

Flynn admitted in his guilty plea that he discussed sanctions with Kislyak, on the orders of a senior Trump campaign official.
Had Flynn explained this to the FBI when they interviewed him, that would have definitely affected an official decision, because it would have led the FBI to investigate the senior official who gave him the order.

So it was clearly a "material" lie, @AlanDersh. You're wrong.

Pelosi is going to vote on the bipartisan deal McConnell passed two weeks ago, @SavannahGuthrie. Her bill IS the compromise.

Trump welched on that bill, because he's trying to shift the goalposts of what constitutes a "compromise" toward him. And you're helping him do it.
If Pelosi said, "fine, we'll give you half of what you want for your wall," Trump would then demand a compromise between that and his original demand. Then a compromise between that compromise and his original demand. And so on and so on.

He tried the exact same thing with DACA.
This is what Trump did in business, @SavannahGuthrie, and it's what he does in politics. Agree to something, stiff the other guy, and force them to fight him to be treated fairly.

Only difference is, this time he picked on someone a lot smarter and tougher than he is.

If I hear one more person making this stupid suggestion I'm going to put a fist through my wall.

The point of 2020 is to elect a good president, not a blah president for the sake of letting someone you like add "VP" to their resume.
If you like Biden, that's fine, support Biden. If you like Beto, that's fine, support Beto.

But STOP with this "have Biden run for just one term then run Beto" bullshit. That's insulting to both of them. It suggests you don't have real confidence in either as a candidate.
Also, to hell with the idea that Kamala Harris would need to take a backseat to anyone on the ticket.

By 2020, she will have had literally the exact same amount of Senate experience as Obama, and *more* experience than him in statewide office overall.

Some states have special courts to review misconduct by judges, up to and including the state supreme court justices.

That's how Roy Moore was fired, twice, as Chief Justice of Alabama. He broke the law, the AL Court of the Judiciary stepped in.

Why can't SCOTUS use that model?
I mean, I don't think such an system would be any threat to the separation of powers as long as the hypothetical "United States Court of the Judiciary" was itself an Article III court.
We don't even have to give such a court the power to actually remove justices from office (which would be a lot more constitutionally and politically fraught).

We could just give them the power to convene between cert and oral argument and rule whether a justice should recuse.

This is deeply troubling coming from an @AP editor.

Over the past 4 decades, special counsel investigations have averaged more than 5 years in duration. The Russia probe isn't even at the 2-year mark.

As for the issue of what's serious: What part of this ISN'T serious?
This comment by an @AP editor seems to speak more to the quality/style of reporting on the Russia probe than the probe itself. Much of the reporting in this area uses episodic framing -- i.e., focusing narrowly on specific individuals & events, w/o contextualizing the news. 1/
This is in contrast to thematic framing, which puts news in context, & identifies trends, patterns, & linkages. Rather than reporting on each development as an isolated event, this type of news frame ties things together & explains the significance. 2/

A thread on the #DemMemo I did some research on the #DemMemo last night. These are my observations. The #DemMemo labors hard to prove that the FBI had sufficient evidence, absent the FISA warrant, to label Carter Page as a Russian spy. First, we’ll look at what Page actually did.
#DemMemo In 2013, Page had a brief interaction with Victor Podobnyy, a Russian spy who was convicted in 2015 of not registering as a foreign agent. The FBI debriefed him and determined that he was unaware the Podobnyy was a spy. They had discussed energy-related information.
#DemMemo Page’s profession was in the energy finance industry, and he had extensive interactions with Russians for a lengthy period of time dating back to 2004, when he lived in Russia for about three years. He also had investments in the Russian energy company Gazprom.
