1) why is Corbyn Pro #Brexit?
Old blog laying out a rationale on why he is so hostile to a #PeoplesVote

Corbyn's position has little to do with Leave voting seats or respecting the referendum

It's all about his Bennite past & "the commanding heights"

2) here's lots of talk around how Corbyn could implement the Labour manifesto within the EU however this is missing the point IMHO. The manifesto is at best Corbyn-lite, he actually wants far more wide-ranging 1940s type nationalisation

This is what a "jobs first" #Brexit means
3) it's all there in Corbyn's past (at least if you can find it, a number of Corbyn anti EU articles appear to have been deleted)

Corbyn still believes in Nuclear disarmament, in a United Ireland and in a protectionist Seige Economy, one more reason for ending FoM
4) old style Bennite Socialism in one State thinking isn't democratic, or Liberal in outlook. It's full blooded authoritarian.

Corbyn is ignoring Labour members because they don't know what's best for them, and he does. So he'll shepherd #Brexit through at all costs

You can't get to an agreement & you can't afford the payments so you stop paying

2) there's this idea that we save £39b if we #Brexit with no deal.
The obligation still exists, we've already agreed this. We're not "buying a deal" we're meeting commitments.
If we crash out & don't pay we're just sending a message, the UK is untrustworthy as well as incompetent
3) if you're the kind of person who thinks it's OK for the UK to walk away from a debt its already agreed to then you're probably the kind of person who doesn't pay his fair share of a meal, or gets his round in, or returns that borrowed drill

1) There is one reason why remainers have "bashed Corbyn" and its this

Because its always been obvious that Labour represented a large & growing Remain group, and that Corbyn was pro #Brexit, working against that Remain attitude

2) Corbyn "Remainers" have continously reinterpreted Corbyn's words, projected their beliefs onto him, pressed on "the long game", stated "he's just following policy", said "he hasn't the numbers" and generally gone through hoops to avoid the obvious truth - Corbyn is a brexiter
3) instead of making statements like "#FBPE is a Corbyn bashing cult" it would be more honest to recognise that Corbyn is against his party & membership on #Brexit, the biggest issue of the age, and always has been. And this is a disgrace

Defending him on this is also a disgrace

1) the Main democratic outrage of #Brexit was the question

There's lots of talk about how a #PeoplesVote would be a democractic outrage but the reality is the major democratic disaster was the Leave/Remain referendum question

And sooner or later we're going to have to face it
2) the problem is "Leave" as an option is a blank canvas, but when examined it always, in any analysis, breaks out into at least 2 very different versions
a) a deal which prioritises the economy over sovereignty
b) a deal which does the reverse
And they are irreconcilable
3) and the entire reason for the mess that we're in now is because sufficient numbers of public figures have been too cowardly, cynical or stupid to accept this fundamental division in Leave options

2015: EU a largely non-salient issue: small-ish strongly pro/anti camps. Wider ’rationally ignorant’ camps that were ‘relaxed’ / ‘instinctively suspicious’.
2016-8: latter camps reduced somewhat as more people enter ‘strongly pro EU’ [1/7]
For many on both sides of the ‘rationally ignorant’ camp “respect the referendum” seems to be more important than “leave the EU”.

One thing I don’t detect much of, tho, is a growing number of people in that camp who are strongly anti-EU on principle. [2/7]
Though there is some resentment of the EU’s “anti-British” negotiating stance, but that’s it. Some of the Leave-voting mild preference people seem to have switched to “leaving is a mistake” (often “too much trouble”). [3/7]

Here are some of the key findings from the report in slide form.
First an overview of the study itself:
Rich qualitative data (online survey & focus groups) gathered across the Central Border Region. Detailed examples & viewpoints heard from people on both sides of #border.

Respondents to the survey came from across the 8 local authority areas of the Central Border Region, moreorless equally from both sides of the border. 50/50 male/female. 80% 31-65 yrs.
There were far fewer Leave-voting respondents so they got extra attention in our analysis.

"#Brexit and EU agencies", our extensive look into third country relationships of the 36 EU agencies and how the UK might fit in.

Albeit largely technical, agencies will have huge implications on Brexit.

Five points stand out in particular:
First, Agencies matter. Like the customs union, they are a technical aspect of the EU, that works and was thus hardly discussed in the UK before #Brexit.
But they are important for single market, but also justice and home affairs.

UK gov thus has already asked to continue participation in selected agencies, in particular in sectors important to the UK economy, like aviation, chemicals or pharma.
