On Jan 3, the Dems ought to introduce a bill to strip Trump of nuclear first strike authority, and insist it be signed into law before any discussion of a wall.

It's a matter of national security.

@RepRoKhanna @RepAdamSchiff @SenMarkey @RepTedLieu @RepKarenBass
As he becomes more unstable, @RepKarenBass, it is critical Congress preempt such a strike.
He hasn't gotten off Twitter, and certainly not less reckless, but his Twitter behavior is the least of our worries.

It's time to act, @SenBobCasey

It's time for Congress to reclaim its constitutional responsibility for war, which was meant to make it difficult, not easy.

Take up your responsibility to prevent #nuclear war at all costs, @MarkWarner because our CiC is not worthy.

We agree, @SenMarkey, NO president should have that unchecked power, and certainly not THIS one.
BoneSpurs still has his big red button, @SenDuckworth but it's clear he doesn't have a clue even what NK wants, let alone how to get a real agreement.
A year ago, and more unfit and dangerous now than ever, @BettyMcCollum04
It's time to do something about it, lest tragedy befall hundreds of millions, @USRepRickNolan

You're going to play a big role in saving the world, @RepAdamSmith

This isn't a partisan issue, @SenMajLdr, nor left vs right. It is the true conservative position, as stated by conservative leaders from Cato, American Conservative, and more.

In the case of a mistaken alert, like the Soviets nearly responded to TWICE in 1983, weeks apart, we run the risk of ANY president being railroaded. We need to stand down from the hair-trigger one-man's button stance.
Speaker @NancyPelosi the ball is in your court. You were right 14 months ago, and now is the chance to act—and to send a message that Congress will not be dictated to by the administration.

The House bill introduced last year by @tedlieu is simple and a start, @SenSchumer. My problem with it is it leaves the determination of whether an attack has occurred in the hands of the president. I'm afraid we can no longer view that as adequate.

And thanks and a H/T to @reporterjoe at defensenews.com for compiling most of these statements on Jan 3, 2018. A year has past; it is time to put words into action.
