There's a lot of really inspirational people on Twitter, but I want to name a few that have inspired me this year! (a thread) #tweepspiration2018
1. @jesswade - Jess has has a storming year creating hundreds of profiles for women scientists on @Wikipedia and successfully crowdfunded to get copies of @AngelaDSaini's Inferior into schools!! I also met her and she is totally awesome.

2. @alexevans91 - grew #guessthecrest completed his PhD, got a job, and hit 100,000 unread emails in his inbox. Absolute hero.
3. @itatiVCS. Tells it like it is, incredibly important voice in ecology, amazing early career researcher unafraid of taking fools down a peg or two. A great source of US grad school advice.
4. @thonoir Managed to get a permanent job and have a very adorable baby all in one year. Brilliant researcher, had some great publications out. Always excited to see what Anthony will be involved in next! Oh and on top of that runs @biotweeps !
5. @mcmsharksxx got attacked by a croc and just took it like an absolute boss. Just beginning her PhD and already doing great things in marine science!
6. @TetZoo - the humbleist and most awesomeist of zoologists. Always there to help out and boost others, and a wealth of zoological info which he openly and freely shares with others.
7. @ConnectedWaters - started up @FireLabTweets this year, dedicated to interdisciplinary aquatic research and managed to get this poem into a (really awesome) published scientific paper
8. @juleslhoward made a virtual reality duck vagina need I say more
9. @DNLee5 gave an incredibly inspiring plenary at BES. Her commitment to outreach is unparalleled and I love hearing about the work she does. Plus pouched rats are awesome
10. @BeesAndBaking Finished his PhD, got a postdoc and killed it as Polly Nation at the BES science slam. No he did not buy his place on this list with flamin hot cheetos but of course it helped 😉😂
Thanks to all these guys and everyone else I interact with on here! You've helped make 2018 the okist it could be under the circumstances of current political affairs and a looming PhD deadline 😁

By sharing this video you make harassing wildlife with drones pay. The bears would not have felt the need to take these risks were they not disturbed by the drone. The drone operator could have killed the cub. Horrendously irresponsible.
I chose to share with the video because I hope the poster will take it down.

This is what wildlife harassment looks like.
It's easy to miss distressed wildlife - but good to bear in mind the signs when you watch videos and to check for whether an animal has been disturbed or harassed. If you do accidentally share them take them down if someone points it out.

So folks, what package would you recommend for paralellising code in R?
I thought this would be simple based on previous experience with parallelising code but I am quickly realising it is not going to be simple. Blargh.
I have had a total turnaround and now think I do not need the paralell package.

1/ I started this account to be my journal of investing in Biotech stocks. (“Bad idea!” you say!) I’m a PharmD and thought it would be fun to make a new account to follow “Biotwitter” (hate that term!) and journal my thoughts. But lately I mostly just tweet about Tesla. Why?
2/ I have been following Tesla for a little less than a year now. I’m really not even sure what got me into it. But as biotech went on a massive run in 2017, I started thinking about hedging my risk with some short exposure.
3/ I remember after following Tesla for months I was definitely in the bear camp (this is a huge company with terrible balance sheet/margins/operations that behaves like an OTC biotech) over the bull camp (“Don’t bet against Elon”, profits will come with volume, EVs=future)
