In as much as I don’t like indoctrination, I also despise religion. Note that Govt is distrusted all over the world & it gets worse in countries that run a predatory pseudo democracy. What an untethered citizen would do & get commendation for may not be accepted if done by Govt.
So let’s be fair on the comparison of citizens action & Govt’s task. This is not making excuses for any politician, but helping U to manage your expectations. Sadly our unconscionable leaders often lose focus due to avarice & end up seeking to be liked instead of being respected.
For those new to governance thinking goody two shoes Activism as active citizens makes impact in governance, you may have another think coming. No one dreams to go into govt and adopt a strategy of lying to citizens as they watch them slowly pass away. There’s a satellite delay.
This was why I once wrote that power comes at the expense of change and vice versa. What you do to impact lives from where you are has more potency than same action while in government which may take 50times the effort with wastage, grafts & a reward of huge criticisms/Protest.
So Distinguished recognize that Governance is never a one party affair. The citizenry must work with the leaders to fix the country. That is the only way we can bridge the institutional gaps and make NIGERIA work for all. Stop the dumb partisan games & identity politics of hate.
Stop hating your peers for a fee. I’m no longer a youth however youthful. When U grow up in the eye of the public people often forget U are aging. I’m over the age of employment. Most of you are youth with no dependents. This is your prime, a time to put your energy to good use.
All that we are doing now is not because of power. It is because of your future. We are leaving you a legacy our parents never left us. 100years ago there wasn’t anything like Oil. Today it is like a drug our Govt is hooked on like a junkie. In the future oil won’t be major.
The meaning of this is that with the current unsustainable trajectory, your generation may need to be recolonized. I’m sure you can interoculate based on the derelict state of education, deliberate ruin of the economy & incessant contravention of the rule of law. Think about it.
Today, Thomas Sowell has been proven right once again as aptly quoted- “One of the most pathetic and dangerous signs of our times is the growing number of individuals and groups who believe that no one can possibly disagree with them for any honest reason.”
I read all sort of things here and I can’t but be truthful to you all. We all need healing. The sad part is that power actually belongs to us all but the more we fail to realize this the more we remain under oppression. Snap out of the trance and get your lives back.
