Final thought on Bastani: clearly bits of original thread are flimsy, one tweet in particular, but if the guy hadn't engaged in activities including, but not limited to, whitewashing a dossier of antisemitic hate-crimes by blaming the media - it wouldn't have mattered. 
To put that in perspective: the dossier revealed a Jewish Lab MP had credible threats made against her from a member which had been sat on.

And Bastani has been utterly complicit in the toxic culture which produces such depravity for the best part of the last year and none of those pious people who came out bat for him based on the recent thread have anything to say about the above, not then, not now, not ever.
The one tweet - which a lot of people didn't get because they weren't on Twitter in 2011, when it was clunky - was sarcy and shows he did understand the Rothschild trope so at the very best he was careless/stupid with the others and could have owned it on that basis.
Instead the usual doubling-down ending up in the Twitter sewer, where not every account who opposes antisemitism acts virtuously (to put it mildly) and ends up RTing an awful antisemite and signing off one rebuke in Hebrew. A really nasty piece of Jew-baiting.
Could have been different. Back in March, when he started provocatively dismissing stuff about the antisemitism issue, and Jewish people acting in good faith invited him to come meet with progressive Jews.
There are many people like Adam who act in good faith on this issue but the ruthless factionalism and bravado that dictates the antisemitism issue takes precedence. And the consequences are lots of people not giving the benefit of the doubt to someone 'cos they don't deserve any.
