Are you struggling to grow your Twitter following (like I was for months)?
Then you'll want to read this thread a few times before you click RT...
Here's why networking in the DMs is so important for ANYONE on social media
If you haven't realized this yet, the currency of the digital world is the exchanging of ideas, good or bad, it doesn't matter
Yes, we use monetary currency to do this, but it's more than that
More...
But, I say this with a word of warning
Pick and choose your generosity carefully
Don't become a freebie whore, giving away all of your knowledge for free
"Hey man, I saw your email landing page, I downloaded your lead magnet, and I wrote you some bullets for your landing page... Feel free to use them"
See how that works?
Good
Whether you believe this or not, it's happening right now
Everything you do online reflects on YOU
That's why most anonymous accounts struggle to make connections with people online
They are going to review your account, see if they like you on a personal level or think you're a total douche bag
That's the harsh truth
If you say you're going to do something, DO IT
Also, make sure to circle back around every few weeks and check in on the relationships you are working on
This makes it MUCH easier to keep the relationship warm
*Checking in on their projects
*Showing them love when they promote things
*Giving them a shout out
*Helping where I can
Are you doing any of this?
If not, start today...
Read this a few times:
You can't help everyone!
Seriously, when you get around 2k followers, you'll get STUPID DMs that have zero thought put into them...
"Hey how do I make money?"
Don't waste your time answering
These DMs broke the cardinal rule, don't waste your brain power on an answer
I narrowed my "following" list down to a very small group
This allows me to create filters and anything MAJOR going on that I need to see will be RTd enough for me to see anyways
These are guys I've (most likely) made personal connections with
We support one another
Choose the ones that deliver you value or else you'll spend all day reading emails, most are writing daily emails (like you should be!)
