According to the New York Times, both Paul Manafort and Rick Gates provided polling data—including some prepared privately for the campaign—to Konstantin Kilimnik, with instructions to pass it along to Oleg Deripaska.

UPDATE: The New York Times has issued a correction stating that Manafort asked Kilimnik to pass the information to the Ukrainian politician Serhiy Lyovochkin and oligrach Rinat Akhmetov, not Deripaska.
Both have played significant roles in the Russia scandal already: Akhmetov, a ruthless mining magnate with ties to organized crime, initially brought Manafort to Ukraine in the 2000s and funded his work for pro-Kremlin politicians there ... themoscowproject.org/explainers/eve…
