Rather than pretending Beto/Kamala/Booker/etc have an ideologically consistent track record that isn't there, why not just say 'yeah my views changed because the world changed'? It's not hard, it's honest, and it's where most people are.
There's something weird about a demand that politicians remain static in their views when the world doesn't. China is a very different problem today than it was 10 years ago. So are tech monopolists. And banks. Etc.
In 2008 the avg insured family of four paid $15k/year for health care. Last year it was $30k. It's ok to say 'I thought Obamacare was worth a shot but I realized it didn't get the job done.' The world is different. Surprise billing didn't really exist in 2008. It's ok to change.

The insistence by white male writers that there is a two-white-man race out there between Bernie & Beto is so deeply, stunningly misogynist, it takes my breath away.

How is it POSSIBLE that these folks missed the blue wave which was fundamentally female--driven by women voters?
Not just driven by women voters, but driven by women candidates. Left-leaning women candidates, including WOC who ousted long-time older white male incumbents like....Bernie Sanders.

How is anyone missing this fact?
It's a major reason why Sanders' numbers have plummeted.

The current favorites to face President Trump in 2020 are former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., according to a new Morning Consult/POLITICO survey. Biden came in first place with 26 percent of the vote, and Sanders clocked in at 19 percent.
Cable news hound Michael Avenatti meanwhile shared last place (0 percent) with former Massachusetts Gov. @DevalPatrick and former Attorney General @EricHolder, which is about as embarrassing a thing as I can imagine for Patrick and Holder.

64% of respondents said the news media has done more to divide than unite the country since Trump was sworn into office, while 56% of voters said the same about Trump.
Republican women cast the most blame on the press, with 83% saying media has done more to divide Americans than unite. Democratic men had the most favorable view of the news media, with 44% saying the press has done more to divide than unite.
