@Dmzmhm20181 1/ A lot depends on just how badly Member States - particularly big ones - want to avoid no deal. At extreme good end for May they'll agree to reopen WA and take another look at backstop. But even if they did they'd never screw over Ireland so forget explicitly time limiting it.
@Dmzmhm20181 2/ Middling for May is they reopen PD and do their best to beef it up in legal terms, particularly by highlighting link to WA, to reassure MPs. Again they'd look for new wording to make best endeavours stuff more convincing. I'd put my money on this option but wouldn't risk much.
@Dmzmhm20181 3/ Worst case scenario for May is they say 'sorry we've given up - this isn't going anywhere & we're resigned to no deal'. That's certainly a growing sentiment in some states with weaker ties to UK. So they say she's got all she's going to get & ramp up contingency preparations.
