When Trump became president the @nytimes and the @washingtonpost saw readership skyrocket. @MSNBC’s ratings rose and continue to do so. Because most people are deeply frightened the Trump WH.

They know there’s a huge audience is out there if they go hard after Trump.
So why did we see so much reluctance to dig into Trump’s clearly weird relationship with Russia? Why did the MSM endlessly pump air into the Clinton e-mail non-story?

Why does the @nytimes still publish stories that try to normalize Trump? Why not go full ahead?
Why has the MSM not gone full bore and enjoyed the amazing ratings that deep revelations of the Trump treason/transgressions will bring?

The only reason that makes sense to me is that Trump’s crimes are so massive, dangerous and frightening that MSM is reflexively scared.
The crimes are so deeply dangerous, the stakes are so, so high ... that I can imagine the MSM is concerned of getting anything wrong.

More importantly ... I think the Trump/Russia reality is outside the imagination of many media editors. It’s blowing their minds.
The Media literally can’t get their heads around the insanity of the Trump White House. For reporters and editors ... covering Trump must be like stepping into a surreal cartoon world. A parallel universe. An alternate dimension.
And because of this ... I think the Media is like MANY OTHERS who think “Well, the system will take care of all this. The government is well built, there’s institutions and the Constitution and Trump will be buffered.”
I think the implication the President of the United States is an intelligence asset for Russia deeply frightens ... EVERYONE. And that includes the publishers, owners and top executives of MSM. And I think there’s a reflexive need to normalize the insanity.
During the election campaign the MSM was certain Clinton would win. So they desperately wanted to appear not-for-Clinton. Also, the inevitability of a Clinton win motivated the media to really go after Clinton and try to make the election exciting enough to read about.
Once Trump was elected ... the Media entered a world they had NEVER experienced.

I think to some extent we can explain the MSM’s urge to support the status quo ... was a reflexive reaction that most people experienced when Trump was elected.
The Media was faced with the implication that they were now going to be called upon to defend democracy ... they were necessary to help bring down a treasonous president.

And the reaction was ... “Oh, I’m sure everything is gonna okay. Let’s just take a deep breath.”
