We know that ethylene oxide is a dangerous toxin that poses public health risks for communities in Illinois, which is why the allegation that political staff at EPA have ordered civil servants not to inspect any facility in the region that emits ethylene oxide is so alarming.
Yesterday evening when we checked EPA’s public enforcement and compliance website, we discovered that no ethylene oxide inspection has happened since EPA discovered that an increased cancer risk exists for the community next to Sterigenics.
That’s unacceptable and I’m planning on asking the EPA Inspector General to launch an internal investigation and I asked Acting Administrator Wheeler to support that investigation today. duckworth.senate.gov/news/press-rel…

We know that ethylene oxide is a dangerous chemical that poses a serious health risk to Illinoisans and needs to be mitigated ASAP. My colleagues & I have called on EPA to do its part to investigate these threats, Sterigenics must acknowledge its role in this public health crisis
Yesterday, I asked the CEO of Sterigenics to maintain the pollution control technology they installed last summer. They committed to maintain it at their facility in Illinois and at every facility they operate across the Country.

It’s been two years since Donald Trump issued his discriminatory Muslim travel ban, preventing travelers, vetted refugees and their families – and even green card holders – from entering the United States.
Since then, Donald Trump has time and again wrongfully characterized entire countries, faiths and peoples in pursuit of xenophobic and sometimes hateful policies.
Families are fearful of flying home to see loved ones, while refugees and asylum seekers wait endlessly in dangerous situations. Turning people away from our country because of where they were born or the religion they practice is wholly un-American & betrays our nation’s values.

In 2018, universities are basically just left/green-leaning think-tanks. They are candid about seeking to influence the political agenda, and the ends to which they will influence it. What they don't admit to is that their work is 'ideological'. It is.
Does it sound too much to say that an ideology is at work behind the desire to tax red meat?
1. The presupposition is that you cannot make your own choices, and should not be free to make them.

That is a deeply political presupposition.

In the midst of the tests and various medical consultations, it occurred to me that my life had stopped. My symptoms limited my movements and where I could go. So, I couldn't plan and I couldn't project forward.
Things like traveling or dating went out of the window. I was stuck on finding a solution to my health challenge. My tests are still ongoing. I'm still seeing doctors, but we think we now know what's wrong. And so, I am hopeful.

I, like many people, was caught off guard by Trump's executive order on clean air rules this afternoon, having spent the day watching the Senate vote on Andrew Wheeler and picking through the latest Scott Pruitt allegations.

But this is v. important:

The order is written in a lot of vague legalese, but there are important points.

1. The order reverses an Obama-era decision to allow the EPA to intervene in states that fail to meet National Ambient Air Quality Standards.
2. It opens the door to drastic changes in how science is used to set clean air rules, disqualifying huge amounts of peer-reviewed public health research in favor of industry-backed studies in a move that builds on steps EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt has already taken.
